16 Declarations for Single Ladies in 2016
If I knew then, what I know now…
It’s that time of the year where we all make resolutions, set new goals or push ourselves to achieve goals we didn’t reach last year, but sometimes that’s easier said than done. If you know me by now, you know I love to uplift and encourage my sisters – whether single or married – and I’m “all about that SASS – “Sisterly Advice for My Single Sisters.” So, I had to give some more of that real talk, thought-provoking truth in preparation as you begin a New Year of dating, relationships, kicking it, having fun or whatever you choose to do!
For some, this might be the extra push you need to start the year off right, or something you can come back to when you need it. For others, this may merely serve as a friendly reminder for what you already know to be true. Whatever it may mean to you, just trust and know that it flows from my heart to yours. Whether you’re contemplating starting a new relationship, choosing to stay single and/or even going through a break-up…may these declarations give you the confidence and support to help keep you moving in whatever direction.
- You can’t audition a boy to play the role of a man.
- “Boyfriends don’t get husband privileges.” – Heather Lindsay
- “Love is many things. One thing love is NOT is unsure.” – Movie
- “You never have to chase what wants to stay.” – Trent Shelton If a man wants to be with you, guess what? He’ll be with you. Point. Blank. Period.
- There is no greater sign of a man who is truly in love than a man whose words are supported by his actions.
- Good men aren’t bad habits.
- Texting is not courting.
- Single isn’t a synonym for settle. Don’t settle for being his number one when you deserve to be the ONLY one.
- The day you stop making excuses for people who continuously break your heart, will be the day you’re able to excuse them out of your life.
- You can’t move forward if you keep looking behind you, especially if when you look back they’re not even looking for you.
- Just because something feels good to you doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for you, and if it’s bad to you then most it’s probably bad for you.
- Be the woman a man needs; not a needy woman.
- Sometimes when people walk away, they’re not saying no to you; instead they’re saying no to themselves because they’re not ready to step up to the level where they know they should be.
- Sometimes saying “no” to someone else means saying “yes” to yourself…and that’s okay because in order to love someone else you must first love yourself.
- It’s liberating to know that what you once thought was or could’ve been the best thing in your life became the best thing that was removed from your life. #GoodInGoodbye #BestThingINeverHad
- Single isn’t a synonym for stagnant. Be you, do you and take advantage of your single status!
During 2015, you may have endured some hurt, loneliness, disappointment and heartache. We’ve all been there. You may have even had the BEST time of your life in 2015; or a combination of both. Either way, for 2016 and beyond, may you be encouraged and empowered by the words above as well as the Word of God. So, I leave you with this:
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.”
